Let me tell you a story:
In September 1979 I started my Engineering studies. No matter what your major was (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Metallurgic, etc) the first semester was exactly the same and all the students in my group attended the exactly same six classes at the same time of the day in the same class room. So, this group of students bonded as a group. After three years I bumped into one of these students and he asked me to take a test for him, I refused of course but out of curiosity I asked him what was the subject he wanted me to test for him and he said "Math 1". I was astonished, I told him that if he had not passed Math 1 in three years he should be studying something else but Engineering. His response was "I don not care how long it takes me but I am determined to become an Engineer". I have not heard from him ever since, but according to my calculations, I am sure he stills there, after 30 years he is probably in 5th semester by now. Maybe he will graduate and have his funeral the same day.
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.
