YaY Time Clock Issues!

An ICS Emulator for YAHOO Chess

There is some lag when using Chessbase programs, therefore for 1/0 games you would probably be better off using polyglot.

When using chessbase programs with YaY or Stuci to play auto on yahoo its best to set your programs timer slightly lower than the yahoo timer (this cant be done on 1/0 games obviously).

Examples..

Yahoo timer 10/0 ...set Fritz timer to 9/0 to allow for the lag.

Yahoo timer 3/3 ... set Fritz timer to 3/2

Yahoo timer 8/8 ...set Frit timer to 8/7

Yahoo timer 4/0 ...set Fritz timer to 3/0

Is Stuci any better in time management and accuracy of time left in game vs what is inaccurately being displayed in Fritz GUI?
No, Its exactly the same as YaY for speed if your using a chessbase GUI like Fritz.

Hope this helps

plus, if it is really enough, you should still be playing 1/0. now you are playing 1/1. :crasha :crasha :crasha

Playchess server is sponsored by Chessbase ( or they are the same or something like that ), Chessbase software is optimized to play in PCC and compensate for lag, or what is also called timeseal in ICC...FICS...etc.

Yahoo will never compensate for that...Yahoo sucks, I don't even know why we are all so obsesed in playing in Yahoo....maybe because is free? or because there are more players in Yahoo at any given moment that the other chess servers all together ? Anyway, until the day Yahoo provides a way to compensate for lag (never) this timing isuue will always be there

Works perfectly fine with the examples Ive given..in fact I dont ever recall my fritz timer running out, and ive been using fritz with YtoICS for a few years! Your problem is your trying to play 1/0 and 1/1 using fritz. You need to use polyglot or play with a longer timer. I wouldnt play below 3/0 with chessbase on yahoo.

Well.... I play 1/0 using chessbase and I run out of time in very rare acosasions and only against zozur. Under rate of play you should select at least Fast, or Ultra Fast. But as you know the shorter the time the engine has to think the less quality of the move.

Many of the games I win I am actually -1.0 or so by the time the opponent runs out of time. I like 1/0 games for two main reasons: because they are fast and because the power of the hardware is more important than the power of the book. All I need is a computer (and of course the engine and the book play a role) powerfull enough to keep the opponent at bay while his/her time is running out. I will be a millionaire if they give me a penny for every time I heard " I was winning, you only won because I ran out of time asshole". This is funny, some people don't understand that if they were wining (0.4 to 1.0) is because their engine was taking more time than mine thinking while mine was thinking just hardly enough to keep them at bay without using too much time.

I might be wrong and is not my intention to ofend you or anybody else, in the contrary, I want to send you in the rigth path, so this is my opinion: A dual core at 2.2 Ghz is not a match to a quad a 3.0 Ghz or more for 1/0 Games in Yahoo. Maybe in Play Chess at 3/0 because is a longer timer and the book plays a better role and because lag is compensated....but not in Yahoo at 1/0.

I find a nice timer on yahoo for quick games using Fritz with YaY is to set the Yahoo table to 2/1 and your Fritz timer to 3/0 (the popular Playchess.com blitz timer). At these setting I rarely run out of time on the yahoo table, and never run out on the Fritz timer.

Hey Sicilan ........if you dont want to lose on time do the following thing....in fritz gui go to game menu and under levels choose fixed depth( depending upon your hardwarre I choose 5-7) or set maximum time per move to 1 second.......this will atleast solve u running out of time but beware at these settings if u do not have a very very strong opening book u r certain to loose even before your time expires....

PS: sicilan pls dont give up on 1/0 games so easily .......
