I wish you luck with all of that. You made a statement that YaYp auto is nothing like PCA. Good, now that that is settled we welcome you all to come to play us at Pogo. Right now you are in the cold war stages if you catch my drift. I can honestly say that Pogo has the strongest players on the web. Yahoo is too boring and the room templates are terrible. "Keep it simple". YaYp is doomed for failure against real world coders that know the protocol and the sites, servers and such. I will say that this is going to be fun to prove. When you get tired of playing around exchanging code and you bring it to Pogo be extra sure that you do not leave out one thing. lol... I am the one to beat on pogo. Here in case you have no clue I am coolnite! I have beaten all these PCA's. YaYp have decided to do something good which is HELP YOU guys by providing you a BUG free GREAT auto. From playing against it I can say that I look forward to seeing their finished product. Bubbaville I'm not sure where you are getting some of your information but you might want to look more into the things you are posting before you post them because YaYp, PCA, and my auto is nothing alike I believe if anything YaYp is closest to my auto as far as speed and I have yet to see any bugs while playing them.

We will not argue,assume or say that YaYp will be the best pogo auto, actually, we don't even care, YaYp is a pet project that started to satisfy our curiosity and eagerness for challanges and to offer something to the public, because apparently all the non-commercial pogo autos out there are passed only among a reduced group of friends or not passed at all.

Who is Larry? or is actually larry with lower case? We don't know, we don't want to know and we don't care. No offense intended to him, if he is a good coder we take our hats off, but we bet he does not even know that you are offering help on his behalf. Concerning help: we dont want help, we don't need help and we have not asked for help and never will.

What makes you beleive you know what YaYp will have or not have? Even worse, who gave you the right to affirm that YaYp was taken from a bad decompile of that Larry you are talking about?

We can say more about what YaYp will have, or how we are coding it, and how we are learning about pogo's protocol (from bare pure scratch, hours of packet sniffing), but we will stop here. It is apparent that:

I can honestly say that Pogo has the strongest players on the web. Yahoo is too boring and the room templates are terrible.

Well Im going to have to disagree with you here. Im my oppinion PCC (playchess.com) has the strongest engine chess players on the web by far.

From what Ive seen so far in pogo chess there are only 3 or 4 strong guys there (although Im sure I havnt seen all the proggers in pogo yet), most the progs are extremely weak and doing YaYp tests on my very slow old singlecore 32bit laptop (which is probably 150-200 elo weaker than my overcocked i7) most these guys have gone down very easily... im sorry but its true!

So from what Ive seen so far yahoo is far tougher competition for engine chess (meaning theres 3 or 4 times more strong progs there).

Also theres to many silly progs in pogo aswell using time cheat exploits.. whats that all about? If the table is 1/0 the game should not have increments added, otherwise we may as well play 60/15!!! Then theres the guy whos prog keeps messing up and he has to keep standing and sitting which freezez the table sometimes .. whats that all about?
To be honest we almost considered stopping work on YaYp due to how bad the pogo server is .. meaning how many posible exploits there are there.. in this case yahoo server is by far superior.

Anyway after discussing this, we have decided to continue with YaYp, as we are not the type to quit

Well, coolnite, I see you have forgotten those defeats and you running from better autos in games and staying away for weeks on end while licking those wounds. It's ok. We will see what Yayp can do when an if it comes out and then I will check this site for your cries and blaming bad coding. You do know that we (pogo) could care less of Yahoo chess games. We only code forward and not backward and we never claim anything but I can assure you that you have seen nothing yet. BTW a OC i7 is actually working too hard. It isn't all hardware as I can assure you.
A 1st year grad student can code better and not waste time in packet sniffing. LOL that is a riot.

This year will be the test to lay YaYp to rest. It can be exploited in so many ways.

You beat me lol I doubt that also don't ever remember typing who is this sorry those that know me ingame only know I will respond with 2 different things. Its funny how YaYpTeam wants to help out EVERYONE and the only people upset are the owners of PCA (which can't even play a correct timed game). I'm guessing those that have PCA (joke) coming from chessbuddy might have thought it was x-mas because this horrible auto that can't even stay in a game long enough before logging in and out had to be coded so that it logs right back on after being kicked off table (FUNNY!). Why not fix why it keeps logging off instead (horrible coding).

What is funny is that you say you beat me? However you have yet to say who you are! See the reason why people know me is because they 1 either lost to me or 2 they never see me lose (much)! Do I lose sure I do last time I check I lose a 1 game every 143 wins.

UPDATE:

YaYp development keeps moving forward, slowly but surely.

Unfortunately, instead of dedicating our time to fully understand POGO and code YaYp accordingly, we also have to understand the 'hacks' some dishonest players are using and create defenses for such hacks. Note: These silly hacks are possible because POGO engineers made an excellent work making the board look pretty, then they were so tiered and made a bad job designing the protocol, one of this hacks is that the opponent promotes to Queen every piece they moved, including the King.

We insist, people that are considering to give YaYp a try (whenever is ready), should start getting familiar with POGO, it seems that the engine-engine action takes place in a room called : A Clockwork Orange, next there is a direct link to that room, the beauty of this link is that by-passes the fricking advertisement and also let's you log in even if the room is full; for this link to work you must have of course a registered ID ( in POGO is called screen name), and you must have at least logged in once so the login cookie will be stored in your browser.

UPDATE January 23, 2010

MILESTONE achieved, according to latest tests, YaYp seems to be stable as a rock, well almost.

-All different types of endgames (Checkmate, any type of draw, opponent resignation and looses on time) are being detected correctly.

-The known tricks/cheats performed by this other program are now crippled (We are sure they have more under their sleeve, and they will be tackled as they come).

-Last but not least, the "Switch seats after game ends" mode (very popular in POGO) is now working nice and stable.

There are still many issues (cosmetical and practical), many features that need to be added, etc etc, but we think is OK to say that at this point all the rest is 'down hill', in other words: easier to implement.

YaYp will be similar to YaY, with the excemptions imposed by the server nature. The list of of features is similar to YaY's so we won't list them here. Proper documentation will be included as is our tradition.

Again, this is just an update to tell you guys were we stand concerning the development, but this is not a guarantee neither a promise that a public release is coming soon. YaYp will be ready "when is ready", but rest assure we are working hard.

UPDATE January 27th 2010

Chessbase programs such as Fritz Gui have now been tested with YaYp and seem to be playing stable in pogochess, even in 'switch seats after game ends' mode.

The different types of endgames (Checkmate, draw, opponent resignation and looses on time) are being detected correctly and the Fritz gui was clearing after each game correctly.

This means we should hopefully be able to offer full support with Chessbase as well as polyglot with YaYp, as we always have done with YaY.

Lots of hard work still left to do on YaYp, but things are moving forward nicely
