Hi,
This is the best site to download the official Robbobases. There should be 156 files:
http://www.chess.cygnitec.com/RobboBases/Check this link for instructions:
http://ippolit.wikispaces.com/RobboBasesOr this is the instructions from the engine author Norman Shmidt:
TotalBases are similar to the Nalimov EGTB. They are accessed from disk and cover
all 3, 4, 5, and (in the future) 6 pieces. Because they are disk based access is
slow...so they are not used everywhere in the search tree.
Dowloading the TotalBases can be a challenge...even if highly compressed in a
.rar file, the size is formidable: 3.35 GB.
Frankin T has made them freely available from his excellent FTP site:
FTP Username:
ftp@cygnitec.com or FTP Username:
anonymous@cygnitec.com FTP Server: ftp.cygnitec.com
FTP Server Port: 21
I recommend downloading them with an FTP client, for ex:
Filezilla (
http://filezilla-project.org/)
Downloading all TotalBases will take some time...
With Fire 1.2, TotalBases use by default the sub-directory /TotalBases...
this is a sub-directory located in same directory as Fire 1.2 executable.
If your TotalBase archive is named RobboTotalBases.rar, or something other than
TotalBases.rar, please rename it to TotalBases.rar. Extract the archive
TotalBases.rar into the same directory as the Fire 1.2 executable using
right-click menu choice 'Extract Here'... the correct sub-directory structure
will automatically be created, and the files will be extracted. they're now
ready for use, and will be registered during engine initialization.
With Fire 1.2, the TotalBases will load automatically on engine startup
if the sub-directory /TotalBases exists and is populated with a valid Totalbase
installation, and if the default firebird.cfg file is present.
To prevent autoloading:
1) edit the firebird.cfg and replace
AutoLoad TotalBases 1 with
AutoLoad TotalBases 0
2) rename the /TotalBases directory to something other than TotalBases
3) move it to a different location
4) remove it
if Fire crashes during Totalbase use, it is likely you have a corrupt or
invalid TotalBase installation. Simply download the TotalBase archive again
(from a reliable source) and re-install it.

my goal with Fire was to combine all the best ideas, features,
and strengths from the IppoLit chain of releases:
IppoLito, RobboLito, Igorrit, and IvanHoe, into one engine.
Fire is based on the IppoLit family of engines, more info here:

this chess ship is a truly glorious achievement of the
October Revolution and Decembrists movement!
