Well my friend, since it was your idea, I tougth you were going to recruit players and organize thr pairing... I googled chess tournment software and found quite a bunch of them.

Let us know what your plans are.

Im happy to go toe to toe with anyone as long as the yahoo timer isnt below 2/1 or 4/0. That way I can set my Fritz timer to 3/0 (for lag compensate) which is as low as I set it.

NOTE: I work long hours and have a busy social life, so I play on yahoo when it suits me. As long as any Tournament fits around my work and social life you can count me in. However due to work/social life commitments and different time zones its 50/50 whether or not this will be possible.
If I cant make it to the Tournament, I'd be happy to play the Tournament winner best of 10.

PC Specs:

Intel Quadcore CPU @3.3ghz
2gb of Crucial Ballistix DDR2 Ram with timings 4-4-4-12 @920mhz
WD Raptor Hard Drive
Vista Ultimate 64 Bit
*Fritz Benchmark 9200
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Program:

Fritz GUI
Rybka 2.3.2a mp 64bit or Rybka 2.1d3 mp 64Bit ;-)
My Own Personal Opening Book
YaY Ultimate Edition
WinBoard64

No Way I can win against players who have such a strong computer even in blitz or rapid fire games.

May be we can compete when i will buy a quad core

actually, its more of a game of pc performance not game of chess. it doesn't matter what book you use. either home made or just lets say Frayer's Tour books. i played in playchess just to see what they are talking about. i used Frayer's book only to beat an 8core guy. in playchess, you could see what kind of hardware your opponent is using. i don't know about your upcoming tournament if we can see the other player's pc specs. i can always tell you that i only have a dual core pc with my very own personal book, how do you know? that's a big question that comes to me personally. and maybe the same question from others. no offense, i'm just trying to voice my opinion. good luck anyways to your plan.

Hi Mocha

On Yahoo, the book strength matter till depth of max 30 or 35, but on pcc the book depth can up to 55 moves. On yahoo its the hardware matter the most. The hardware config which dene mentioned is way beyond my system config. I also have c2d, but only only 1.8 and ram of 1gb and use only 512 max. Hardware matters when are out of book too early.

Frayers book :crasha I have killed that book many times. No grudges please. He might have made a good book but not a killer book.

sunny, i'm just trying to set an example here. Frayer book is not the issue here. its how sicilian would be a 100% sure that your hardware is this or that, you get what i'm trying to tell you and everybody? how does he know if you are dual, quad, octa or whatever you call it? i can always lie and say i have dual but actually i have octa(wish i have it). and about Frayer book, just pm Kevin about his book and not tell the whole forum about his book. he is a good guy. i'm sure, a lot of us here have used his book.
