zappa_engine/STUCI Team,
After having time to thoroughly use/test STUCI Classics 090312 and 080511, I noticed some bugs that still persist in STUCI Classics:
Bug1
STUCI Classic still cannot resolve certain "Draw-Claims" that results from games. In this case, after game ends, the Timer in WinBoard still counts on (even to negative Time-values!) and adjudicated of games is not finalized. This often leads to both opponents still on the table with one of the player's time counting down even to negative values.
Additionally, the problem and question of "who's turn is it to move"? still persist in STUCI Classics - that is I sometime have to ask spectators whose turn it is to move even with the square-highlights on my WinBoard GUI showing I moved last but the spectators tell me it's my turn to move. Before I know what is happening, I'm almost out of time (if I'm lucky the STUCI ICS shows my time left) but most of the time, it gets stuck and won't update the last move (and by whom) to WinBoard GUI. I have had opponents get upset at me because they assume I don't want to resign, but from my side, I'm thinking I made the last move and it's the opponent's turn to move
Bug2
The STUCI Classic's "Flag" may not be functional as intended to be - even with the "Auto Flag" checked in WinBoard's menu:
Options\General - Auto Flag checked.
For example, I noticed that even when opponent's timer is 0.00 and my timer is 15 or 10 seconds, auto flag is being activated through WinBoard's selection but STUCI Classics has not yet ended or flag the opponent. Of course there are several reasons for these and one of which could be, the opponent is moving extremely fast to be flagged by WinBoard and STUCI(?) ICS or the opponent has a faster yahoo connection. However, 15 seconds is a lot of time left for me (compared to an opponent's 0.00 seconds) to have effectively flagged him/her - not that winning by time is my style here.
Bug3
I noticed frequent and unpredictable internet-disconnection. That is, while watching or playing games, I may even be disconnected from either of these activities and often have to hurry and re-log in to Yahoo. Another autochess friend of mine complained that when watching a game, there's a player by the name emma_pintos aka BRAVO1915, el.toro97,
franco.s.l@pacbell.net, bravo1915@pacbell.net etc (not accusing anyone here) that says: ggs thank you.......
and just like that - gets disconnected ! Now I haven't personally experienced this nor come across this player to be disconnected from certain actions but this might bring to light security concerns that warrants further tightening in STUCI Classics.
Additionally, I am aware that STUCI Classic Lite versions do not have the "Blacklist/Auto Boot" feature. Could you include these features in future STUCI Classic release(s)? Or better yet, bring back the full version of STUCI Classic?
Should I discover any bugs, I'll make an update within this post - all in an effort to let you abreast of these issues including making a better and more stable STUCI Classic series. Thanks for the STUCI Classics.
Bug Update - September 23, 2009:
Bug4
STUCI Classics not only gets stuck in certain 1/2-1/2 games but does NOT update both player's ratings resulting from draw games. Therefore, typing in the ICS Pane "start" (or if the set autostart command was preset) command is ignored. As a result, a new game cannot be started since both player's score or ratings are not displayed in the ICS. In rare cases, it may show both player's ratings after a long lengthy wait (even up to 20-30 minutes) and sometimes, it never shows and an opponent has to cut his/her loses by logging out.
Best,
Prima.
