Settings openings book

Re: Please help: Opening Book settings

Best advice is to always set everything to do with the game and timings first - then do the book settings. Otherwise book settings get returned to default.

Look at any polyglot.ini (there is one included in YaY) and you'll see something like this:

Code: Select all
[PolyGlot]
EngineCommand=Rybka3.exe
Resign=false
Draw=False
Book=true
BookFile=destroyer.bin
log=true
LogFile = Rybka3.log
KibitzMove=true
KibitzPV=false
KibitzCommand=kibitz
KibitzDelay=5

[engine]
Hash = 128
Max CPUs=2048
NalimovPath=C:\YaY_Ultimate_3\WinBoard_x\TBs\
NalimovCache=8
NalimovUsage=1
Preserve Analysis=1
Saved Hash File=<empty>
Persistent Hash Enabled=false
Persistent Hash File=<empty>
Persistent Hash Play Depth=64
Persistent Hash Write Depth=10
Persistent Hash Size=16
Persistent Hash Merge File=<empty>
Ponder=True
MultiPV=1
MultiPV_cp=32768
Contempt Play=15
Contempt Analyze=0
UCI_EngineAbout=www.rybkachess.com
Time Buffer=0

There is only two settings: One that says if a book should be used and one that tells the path and name to the wanted book.

That's it, polyglot books used diferent heuristics than other book formats, so do no expect to see settings like the ones in chessbase programs like Fritz.

Cheers,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.
