question about 'Winboard and Rybka 2'

An ICS Emulator for YAHOO Chess

question about 'Winboard and Rybka 2'

Postby dhalberger » 28 Jan 2009 07:00

sorry if this is in the wrong section.

i use the 'YAY winboard & Rybka 2' shortcut and i was wondering if there is a way to slow down the computer when it moves, because it moves too fast at the beginning (for book moves). it seems unrealistic to the other player to think theyre playing anything but a bot. I checked the engine settings and the settings there dont make a difference.

thanks

EDIT: also,.. I know that Rybka is some sort of chess engine, but "where" is it? i mean, when i open the shortcut, i only get the ICS console and Winboard.. is Rybka 2 implanted within this Winboard version or something? because i was thinking i could tinker with those settings

You are free to do whatever you want....but we don't like it when YaY is used to play against humans. So please, don't ask how to do that and make a human player beleive you are not a bot.

No, rybka is not implanted, it is in the winboard_x folder.

Cheers,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.

Playing longer time controls usually would do that.. But again, long timers are no fun.
