Perl2Exe

Postby DeepThought » 10 May 2008 12:30

Hey, I been trying to convert the latest YaY into exe, so I can carry it anywhere and don't need perl. I've downloaded the perl2exe for 5.8, renamed the YaY.pl to myscript.pl, and dragged it into the perl2exe.exe (I dunno if that's how you do it). Then it starts converting, then says a warning, that bzip2.pm is missing, so I googled it, downloaded it, and put it in the directory. But I still can't convert. Someone please help me?

Why convert it? :smile20
If you have activeperl installed in your computer and yay.pl you do not need to convert it to .exe.
You just need to right click the yay.pl and select how to open it - open it with perl. It will work like a .exe file then.

Or just use the yay.exe inside Yay folder normally.

Or wait for the new YaY.

yes, that' what I'm doing.

And is it true that some windows version already has perl in it? I know linux has. Anyways, this is the 1000th post. :Bravo

I use ActiveState Perl Dev Kit

It is way better than perl2exe which is (if I remember correctly) launched tru a dos prompt.

ActiveState Perl Dev Kit uses a graphical user unterface and I think is way better.

Once you have it installed, use PerlAPP to convert .pl to .exe

I am not allowed to tell you that there are hacked versions around, so please, buy the software. :hhh
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.

Yeah, I read about a bit about PerlDevKit too. But it has 21 days trial right? Can you convert even with the trial version?
