Nope, never heard of this error before.

Are you having this problem? Or your friend?

Does this happen with the 3.2.1 exe version? Or what version?

The exe includes everything it needs and must not be edited it. So, I can only thing of three possibilities:

- A corrupted download file.

- Somebody tried to edit the exe and made few changes (not likely, but a possibility nevertheless)

- Something in particular with that computer/OS.....what OS is he running?

I think Dene already answered to your friend, when they were in Yahoo, that this prob may be his OS. Dene adviced him to reinstall it. Maybe some files are missing in his system.

Try to use program permissions in your security center.

I believe the problem is to do with these 2 files LIBEAY32.DLL and SSLEAY32.DLL

From my limited understanding of the windows xp operating system I believe the problem here is that other software has installed versions of the files libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll in c:\windows\system32 (or equivalent).

The easiest solution is to find which software is doing this, uninstall it, and replace the versions inside c:\windows\system32 (or simply delete them).

Or if your not very competent on a computer, reinstalling the operating system might be easier (or though overkill) if you have the windows xp disc handy.

That's weird because lots of us have installed ActivePerl and Crypt:SSLeay and still we are able to run both the exe for YaY 3.2.1 and older .pl versions. Perhaps he had installed ActivePerl and an older or newer version of Crypt:SSLeay is conflicting with the built-in version in the YaY executable, or as simple as one of those cases that a particular combination of computer/OS/and a particular program just refuse to work together. In any case, see if you have ActivePerl installed and if so un-installed and try again. There is a small possibility that other installed program (not necesarily a Perl program) came with its own version of Crypt::SSLeay and is creating conflicts as well.

Last resource, as dene said: Reformat and re-install Windows XP, but like he said, this is an overkill and an extreme measure.

Good luck,

i've seen this error in my laptop and i just rename file LIBEAY32.DLL in c:\windows\system32 into
LIBEAY32.bak. and Yay runs well again and not corrupt my other applications. Hope this information can be usefull coz i think this error messages doesnt need to reinstall OS again.
