Opening Books ctg.

Postby Kevin Frayer » 24 Mar 2008 14:26

Hello everyone. My website received several referrals from this forum so I thought I would check it out. My name is Kevin Frayer and I am a long time engine chess player. I play now mostly in the engine room of playchess.com but also occasionally on ICC.

It is somewhat difficult to keep up with the very dynamic nature of engine vs. engine chess. Many changes have taken place only in the last few months. The old guard is moving out of the way making room for the new. The Quad CPU is now the standard and book making has never been more important. A few of the references sites I see listed in this forum are some what out of date. Superchessengine.com my be a good source for older free engines, however they have not changed their book download section in over six months. (Should you go there you will still see Santa Claus greeting you… lol) Takker (William Fuller) does have a new public book out but does not have a website any longer.

My area of expertise lay in ctg. book making and I am always happy to answer specific questions in that aspect of engine chess. The websites to keep an eye on for the latest engine books are.

http://www.enginechess.com Norm Pruitt’s site for all things engine chess.

http://www.frayerchess.com My site for opening books and bookmaking.

http://kevinfrayer.blogspot.com My chess blog discussing book making theory.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions Kevin@frayerchess.com or leave a response on this forum.

Thanks All, and good luck:

Kevin,

Thank you very much for stopping by, for the great links...welcome to the forum and be sure we'll be visting your site....as you mentioned "book making" it is one of(if not the most) important part of chess engine playing.... thanks again.

Cheers,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.
