need help with all-star games

An ICS Emulator for YAHOO Chess

need help with all-star games

Postby marcos » 25 Jul 2008 19:54

The other day I tried to play an official yahoo tourney but I could not play it, because I came in 1 late and the engine did not start the game. I would like to know if there is a way to start a game that was already started? I read the momands and notes that comes with yay ultimate package but I could not find much about all-star users. thank you.

I REALLY WANT TO CONGRATULATE MATEMATICO FOR HIS NICE WORK IN THIS FORUM. :ok

I know a lot of time has passed since this question went unanswered, back then I was not willing to share a ilttle secret I have but things had changed and here is the answer.

When you save a game and later(days or hours) both opponents meet again in a room, yahoo sends you an invitation to join the table were the other guy is at. This inivtation is also send if you left a room and left a game pending and then you come back to that room. And guess what? This is the same invitation that Yahoo sends for tournament games.

YaY Ultimate 3 (to be released in x-mas day) now includes an opcode that detects this invitation. If a new variable called "schedule" is on, YaY will automatically observe that table and Yahoo will automatically sit you in the corresponding color. By default this "schedule" variable is off. Be aware that if you received one of these Yahoo Invitation to join a room (not to be confused with other user's invitations) while you are observing/playing a game and the variable "schedule" is on, then YaY will automatically make your ID stand(if seated) and leave that table to go to the scheduled table.

This is also a very usefull tool for those playing long games and get disconnected. If your opponents waits for you and does not let anybody sit, then when you comeback you can automatically come back straight to that table to continue the game.

Now, to make your engine continue a game that was left pending is another story and well beyond the scope of YaY but I will give you hints: In polyglot I think all you have to do is enter the command "refresh", in chessbase is more complicated and you are in your own here.

YaY Ultimate's team hates cheating and cheaters but I know for a fact that 99% of people playing in Yahoo Chess Tournaments are using engines and moving manually.

Cheers,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.
