Is it possible to use xboard or some other program to connect to and play chess @ playchess.com's playservers?

Tough question... I was going to say to run Fritz with wine, but Fritz is a program that needs to be installed.

Try this:
Installed Fritz in Windows, then copy the whole C:\Program Files\Chessbase\ folder to Linux, then use wine to run chessbase8.exe (by now is maybe chessbase9.exe or chessbase10.exe). Please post results (not that I care thou but other users might).

Good luck.

P.S. I always want it to create a program(in perl or c) that emulates the Fritz communication protocol to playchess.com so we can log in there with WinBoard and all the endless possibilities associated with WinBoard/Polyglot, but I do not have a !**** number....and even if I did, at this moment I do not have the time...maybe in the future...but I will never pay 60 dollars to playchess.com!!!!
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.

I have tried using Wine to run Fritz program but it is buggy and playchess.com feature does not work.

I was hoping a program similar to YAY that could work as an inbetween for winboard and playchess server was already out somewhere on the internet. It is unfortunate that the most popular place to play engine vs engine chess cost so much money :(.

Yes...that will be the way to go...a PCC emulator... Someday, it is in the backburner for now...If you find a good/proven programmer willing to go that path I will be willing to give him/her some direction, even become an assistant developer.

Regards,

Okay, maybe this summer I will be able to find a programmer, I'll be working with some software engineers at my internship.

Looks a very interesting project YaY for PCC hehehe. There are rooms there with 2000 players but only 1 room to engines ,even with just 1 room you can find 100 programs.
