All,

As Prima says new latest engine just released from Robbo/Iggorit camp - Ivanhoe. Download from:
64 bit:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ntmnwhtjjol

32 bit:
http://www.mediafire.com/?yrwmc2guc4m

I haven't tried 32 bit but 64 bit has great first results and completely stable. Match was Ivanhoe v1 x64 (4 cores) versus Rybka 3mp x64 (4 cores). Games played on Q6600 quad core Windows xp prox64 in Fritz 9 GUI. 20 games time control 2+0 alternating colours both used Sedat Perfect 12 neutral book, Ponder OFF.

Results:

1 IvanHoe v1 x64 +8/-3/=9 62.50 12.5/20
2 Rybka 3 +3/-8/=9 37.50 7.5/20

The default is 2 cores so you need to do the usual and tick Titanic CPU Mode then set number of CPUs.

All,

I have discovered that in Ivanhoe the hash size is set at 32Mb by default and needs to be re-set in the engine parameters NOT in the GUI. If you try to change hash size in the usual way using the GUI it causes. Open up engine parameters and there is one called Transpositional Tabular Sizing - this is hash size. You can set any value using the usual 32,64,128,256,512 etc values (by the way don't forget to also set Titanic Mode and Titanic CPU for number of cores).

By the way this parameter is not there if you are using Fritz 9 - in Fritz 9 you only get this:
Image

However in Fritz 11 (and presumably in Fritz 12 - not sure about Fritz 10) you get these paramters (same engine):

This may be why some people's results were not as good - try some more tests with hash size set correctly.

Is this better than Iggorit v7 ? And when is Firebird 1.0 going to be released.

So many engines  R3 is going to get burnt.
 Current Version of HOUDINI = 2.0
 Current Version of STOCKFISH = 2.1.1

I can't say with absolute certainty. I do know that IvanHoe and Igorrit are the multi-processor versions of Single-core RobboLito. It seems people are leaning towards whichever of the two branches has less bugs, overall, while in mp mode.

I have Fritz 10 GUI. I can attempt to load IvanHoe/Igorrit within this GUI to see if such bugs persist in Fritz 10.

Right now we know one things for certain that IvanHoe & Iggorit v7 and up are better than Rybka 3 :P

Since we know that I think we should run tests between IvanHoe and Iggorit  To see which version is the best out of the both engines.

As far as Firebird goes I think that it is a much bigger project which consists code from all the IPPOLIT engines. This will certainly make it much stronger in terms of strength compared to all the current ippolit engines.

Firebird is based on IppoLit, RobboLito, Igorrit, IvanHoe family of engines...the glorious achievements of the Russian October Revolution and Decembrists!

rybka.lover,

I've posted a new and stable Igorrit version here igorrit-mp-uci-w32-x64-t1076.html

So far no time-management issues even in 1/0 games. It is winning Rybka 3 x64 in these 1/0 matches. Tomorrow, I'll arrange a much longer time-control games of 40/0 and 40/40.

I just downloaded Ivanhoe. I am using Fritz 11 GUI and Ivanhoe is unable to use both my cores like Iggorit V9.

Any ideas

Rybka lover,

Are you sure that in the engine parameters you have ticked Titanic Mode and set Number of Titanic CPUs ?

Ivan w32

Fritz 10 still cannot load this engine either. I can use it in arena however (as well as other igorrit versions) it seems to be unable to close the engine process... I have to use task manager to end process in order to actually terminate the engine. Even quitting arena did not terminate the engine process (I got rather frustrated until I figured out why my computer was going so ungodly slow).

This bug aside, Multi PV does not work and it uses only 1 processor and not 2. Actually none of the configurations seem to work at all and it seems I am forced to use the engine in its default setup... which due to limiting to 1 processor is not that impressive.

sticking to Igorrit 0086 original which works perfectly still and does very very well against rybka :)
