got tha yay installed. new problem is, when i doubleclick winboard from desktop. i get error " can't find slave".

Maybe he installed it on another directory, so the shortcuts won't work.

Hey linasinblues! Try double clicking the winboard.exe from the folder you installed it. (The DIRECTORY)

I still have problem with winboard shortcut. when i doubleclick the winboard desktop shortcut, this message pops out: COULD NOT CONNECT TO HOST 127.0.0.1 PORT 6000: NO CONNECTION COULD BE MADE BECAUSE THE TARGET MACHINE ACTIVELY REFUSE IT. i'm trying my best to follow the instructions. sorry again if i upset someone, and didn't mean to.

I seen this error when the port specified in YaY is not the same port specified in the winboard shortcut. Be sure the port number you entered in the dos prompt after entering the testword is the same port specified in the winboard shortcut.

I remember also one guy was not entering the port number at all. Take a look at this topic:

This is another example of a question already asked and answered, I know is time consuming but next time take the time to read around.

If you are talking about seeing the regular Yahoo room and table java applets, you will never see them when using YaY.

If you want to see them and play autochess at the same time then switch to Chessbudy or Gambitron.

I shouldnt really answer this question here as its been asked and answered before in this forum, but since you have had so much trouble getting your YaY to work I will give you a few commands here to help to get started quickly..

To create a table with your YaY type simply this command..

create

To join someone elses table (for example table 21)..

obs 21

To then leave table 21..

unobs 21

To sit down as white on a table you are observing..

sit w

To sit down as black on a table you are observing..

sit b

To stand up (you must stand before you can unobserve a table if you are sitting in a seat)..

stand

To start a game (if autostart if turned off)..

start


Ok, thats the basic commands to get you started playing with YaY, have fun.
