Is not crazy at all. Let me explain.
When you move, your script issues a client command to Yahoo, Yahoo receives this move-command and issues a move-server command so everyone (you, your opponent and any observers) can see the move you just made. The period between the time your computer issued the move command and the time Yahoo validated it with a server move command should be fairly short (in the order of thenths of milliseconds) but guess what? fricking lag comes into play here also and Winboard has not way to compensate for this. The clock gets updated every move and it is here when you see the differences in time.
I've been hundreds if times in situations where it looks like I am 5 seconds ahead of my opponent and it seems that he or she is stuck or not moving, but when he moves (aparently)10 seconds later and the clocks get updated is here where I realized that now I am 5 seconds behind.
I know it sounds confusing, but that's the way it is. Bottom line, if Yahoo Chess server is experiencing lag, stay away from 1/0 games.
Good luck,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.
