Filtering Problem

Postby Aaron87747 » 12 Apr 2009 18:30

Hi all,

I am trying to make a new ctg book for upcoming Sedat tournament and I'm trying something new. Usually I leave all games in, even if they win on timer. Now I want only Checkmate games. But every time I try to filter through my database with "Checkmate" games; my Fritz will have an "unexpected problem and has to close immediately". My question is has anybody ever had this problem before and how did they fix it?? Please do not say re-install your Fritz 11 Lite completely because I've done about 5 times and it still hasn't worked.

I dont know the answer sorry. But FRITZ is not the answer, CB9 (Chess Base 9) has extra features.

SCID is another excellent (from what I heard) database tool and best of all is free, it will just take some time to get used to it. Note: I am not sure if SCID can handle databases built with Chessbase programs, but if not, then you just need to create a brand new PGN database in Chessbase and copy all the games there, once this is done then you can go ahead and open it with SCID.

More than likely I am wasting my time with this recomendation, but there it is. Maybe new generations of book makers will realize that Chessbase is not the only neither the best database manipulation tool out there.

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply Matematiko, but as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) SCID can't filter through databases to get rid of draws etc.

I just downloaded ChessBase 9 and tried the filtering system on many different sizes of databases. All of them got an error and the program shut down again. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

They got and errors cecause you stared with Fritz...start from scratch with CD9 and you'll see that errors are gone.

Cheers
