Direct Access to Yahoo chess rooms

Postby matematiko » 22 Oct 2007 03:54

Some of us( or maybe all of us) we log in to the yahoo chess room where our bot is, using the regular yahoo java interface. We do this to "monitor" our bot due to the lack of graphics interface in YtoICS.

Advance Lounge is always full and we have to use some of the many backdoor sites out there.

I never liked this. It gives me the freeaks not knowing what type of information about me or my computer is being capture( or not) by these sites. So, just in case I developed my own back doors.

For example,to create a direct access link to advance lounge(chess_adv) create a new shortcut in your desktop. Then enter this in the first window that pops up:
http://profiles.games.yahoo.com/games/ante?room=chess_adv&prof_id=chat_pf_1&nosignedcab=yes, click next and name it Advance(or whatever).

For this to work you need to be already logged in to yahoo with your browser. Please make note that you will be logged to that room as specified for the number in "chat_pf_1". 1 is for the main ID, and numbers other than 1 are profiles(assuming the user had created profiles).

Actually, if you click in the link showed in this message, it will take you to Advance Lounge. Go ahead, test it.

Aditionally, you can drag and drop the shortcut in your browser's links bar.

Cheers.
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.

Nice work, please keep in mind that the browser you copy the link from and the browser you paste the link to should be compatible with each other (e.g Copy from IE - Paste to IE or Copy from Firefox - Paste to Firefox again)

Ever tried, ever failed. Try again, fail again. Fail better.
