.set up your parameters ("parameters" button)

how to use it:

FIRST, you need to configure some files in the "Adapter" folder:
-put your ctg books in the "Adapter\ATrees\ctg" folder (for example, you see a Test folder where it is test.ctg ctb and cto)
-then go to the "Adapter\Config" folder, where you will have to edit the tree_configurations.xml file (with notepad for example)
you can see a block <item name="Example" ... </item> and inside this block "ctg\Test\test.ctg" in several lines
all you have to do is to change the item name ("Example") or the path ("ctg\Test\test.ctg") as you wish
if you want to use several books, just copy the block <item name="Example" ... </item> and change the item name and paths


.set up your parameters ("parameters" button)

engine name must be the name of the .exe in the engine folder
book name must be the item name you wrote before in the "Adapter\Config" folder
server name must be the name of the .txt in your folder
you can set the time you want to play in min/sec

PS: - you should use "low priority" or "ponder" unchecked when playing on a chess server like yahoo (java based) or you may experiment a slow down...maybe you dont have this problem if you have fast hardware...
- you can set the time to 0 min 30 sec for example and play very fast games, like 10sec+1 games !

I've got problems with this chesscube adapter. Seems to crash the rybka engine all the time. yet my rybka running in aquarium or in chessbase fritz interface never crashes. I am running this on a Core I7. with Vista ultimate x64.

Something ain't right, I'm getting a "BOARD ERROR END" in the INFO box. I have set all the settings and I'm sure I have adjusted parameters correctly. I was white and thus pushed "W" then the error appeared and of course nothing happened. Using the Aquarium one.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes.... works great for me!!! If your settings are correct... maybe you can try a different browser? Like firefox or chrome or safari? I had a problem once with a firefox plugin that messed with my mouse.... anyway try with exact settings and different browser and let us know it works... I also only use the standard admax versions....

Thanks admax for the full release.... I prefer to stop it playing when I am well ahead (20 moves is usually good enough)... but this is useful...

Still coming up with the same error. I have set all the appropriate settings in Chesscube according to what was written here and have configured my opening book and the parameters. I'm not sure what else to do, unless the .xml file is configured wrong, but even if it is it shouldn't affect board detection?

"BOARD ERROR END" after I either hit the "W" or the "B" keys to start.

I'm using firefox, don't really want to try with explorer.. though I really doubt it will make any difference. Someone wish to see if my files are correct and have everything set properly?

Apart from that I'm sure it works great and thanks for developing it.

when you launch chesscube.exe and click on "parameters", are all the options filled ?

do u have "chesscube" in the server name ? and its better to maximize your firefox window...

All the options are filled except for "option" under the Book box; the Clocks box shows "sec=30" in the min part and "[SERVER]" in the sec part, though I clear this and just put in 30 for the seconds. I type in chesscube for the server and "delay" and "clic" are blank by default until I hit start and delay displays "clic=0". It has also displayed 2000 in the delay before.

Oh and the window is always maximized.

[*]if YOU promote a pawn, you can see it in the autoplay and it says the promoted piece (for example queen) and then press NUM0:
it means that when YOU promote, program "freezes" until you select with your mouse the promoted piece in chesscube( click on the queen in my example) and then to "tell" the program that you clicked, press the '0' key (numpad)

[*]if OPPONENT promotes a pawn, you have to "tell" the program the corresponding promoted piece, for example if OPPONENT promotes to a queen, you will have to push 'Q' key.

Just wanted to say thanks Admax works like a dream! Also for those having problems. I have had a few also on intial setup. One thing to remember is in the server settings it is important to have the delay setting set properly. Setting it way too low will cause rybka at times to crash at random or it will cause the adapter to loose sync with the engine and move out of turn or stop moving entirely or even make really bad lame moves that loose immediately. As i have found out the hard way.

I recommend setting the delay on 2000 any lower is highly risky as the engine can become unstable or adapter thinks its on move 6 when its really only on move 2 or 3. Trust me i know hehehe. Also be sure to have the name chesscube for server name in other wise won't work. Also if the delay setting is blank fill it in with a number like 2000. Not sure what it defaults to if not filled in.

I also recommend leaving the boxes check for ponder on and low priority. The low priority won't really effect your gaming performance but could lag you out on some systems since chesscube being browser based is running on flash10x. Ponder on will increase playing strenght and reaction time of the engine due to ponderhits that are accurate.


One last thing is setting up the opening book. I know i had a lot of problems getting this right. but I will tell you the simpliest way to get it right. There is a folder that contains another folder called test. Located in \adapter\atrees\ctg What you do is copy your opening book files to the test folder. There is 3 files already there a book.ctg book.cto and book.ctb. Now delete those 3 book files that are called book. Now that you already have copied your other book files to that folder. Rename those files you want to use to the name of book but, leave the extension alone. Once have done that strangely enough in the admax software settings use the name Example as the name of the book and it will use your book moves. Yes just type Example for the name in the book box. Yes i know it seems strange instead of typing in the actual name of the book which in this case is simplely book. No need to modify anything else to get the book to work. Enjoy!

Also if your running WindowsVista. It is a good idea to run compatibility mode for the chesscube adapter. This will speed up the adapters respone time. Right click on the chesscube.exe and make sure to set it for windows XP compatibility and put a check next to the 3 disabled boxes that turn off themes and stuff like that. Be sure to disable themes and compostion and high dpi. turn those off and watch chesscube fly when running . If you don't disable them in really fast game like 10 +1 or 1min games you may loose on time due to moving too slowly.
