How soon does it close? after you enter your username and password etc?

If so, I have a certain amount of ID's here that do that everytime I try and log them in with YaY.

These same ID's work fine on yahoo chess normally so they arnt barred from yahoo chess, its a very strange problem.

Like m_t_mode suggested, I would try logging in with numerous ID's first, you may find one works! (I have many that work and many that dont with YaY)

If not follow the guide again here http://www.members.cox.net/zozur/ going over everything again carefully for any mistakes you may of made while setting up.

My first recomendation to EVERYBODY is to never start YaY or STUCI or any perl script for that matter by double clicking in the file or a shurtcut icon to a batch file. The problem with starting scripts this way is that if there is an error, the CMD(dos prompt) window will close automatically taking away with it the error description.

To avoid this, open a CMD window(start, run, type cmd, hit enter), then navigate to where your script or batch file are, then launch your script or batch file. If there is an error the CMD window will remain open and display an error message.

Then you post your error message here and I am sure will be able to help you rigth away instead of making twenty thousand wild guesses.

These recomendations apply to windows users only, maybe zappa can add something to this post in relation to scripts with errors behavior under Linux.

Cheers,

One of many command prompt(cmd) tutorials can be found here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial76.html, I can not answer your question because I dont know in which drive and/or folder you have your YaY files. You can also take a look at this page http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071109185806AAFEBfo.

Please read the turorial, it will show you how to start the command prompt, how to navigate to the desire directory(folder) and then launch the desired application (YaY) in this case.

I mentioned in one of my earliest posts that YaY does not requieres Crypt::Sleay module anymore( can someone with a fresh installation of Windows and ActivePerl confirm this?).

Another way to do this, you can go the official site for "Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP" here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and download and install CmdHere.exe, this nifty utility will allow you to navigate with your windows explorer to the folder you want, then right click on that folder and select "Open Command Window Here" and viola, the command prompt opens in that particular folder.

This is a direct link for CmdHere.exe : http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/CmdHerePowertoySetup.exe

Note: CmdHere was made for Windows XP, I do not know if it works under other Windows platforms.

Delete all the files in the C:/Yay folder and extract the file i'm sending you into this folder, then try connecting by using the "YaY-0.0.5.beta.pl" file:

YaY.rar

You have to type(without the quotes) "perl yay-0.0.5.beta.pl"

In other words, you have to let windows know that perl is suposed to run yay-0.0.5.beta.pl

Hope that helps, cheers,

After a succesfull installation of ActivePerl, files with extention *.pl, should be shown like in this image:Image.

The yellowish icon I see in your snapshot remindes me of perl scripts converted to exactubles with perl2exe.

I suggest you uninstall ActivePerl, uninstall perl2exe(if you have it installed),reboot your computer and reinstall activeperl as per the instructions found in zozur's page
http://members.cox.net/zozur/gringos.shtml

ANd since you are going to visit zozur's page, be sure you downlad YaY from that page, maybe you downloaded YAY from somewhere else.

Also, my nickname in this forum is matematiko and not matiko

Good luck,

Look at this topic http://autochess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2&p=214#p214 you might find the answer there.

My guess is the Winboard shortcut is not correct.

Thanks for your help
i found there the solution ,now i will post here so enyone like me will get it quickly

With Chessbase products (Fritz), there is a 3-step process to get going.

1. Start YtoICS perl script (or similar fork, YaY/STUCI) and login.
2. Start Chessbase program (Fritz), click on Tools menu, and then Connect Hardware. Select "Auto-232 1.0". Check "Server name" and un-check "Unload after autoplay".
3. Then you load Winboard (with correct shortcut--already explained above)

If you didn't do step 2, then you get the error you mentioned above about not being able to find a slave (for auto232) and not being able to create a pipe.
