Can I install Fritz 12 sound files over Rybka 4?

Postby chessguy » 14 Feb 2011 20:18

I have Rybka 4 installed now, and it doesn't speak or have any voice tutorials like I am used to with my Deep Fritz 12. When Deep Fritz 12 installed I noticed that it installed like 1,000 wav files, and Rybka 4 didn't install any of those. I already have Rybka set up the way I like it - I was wondering if there is a way to install the Fritz 12 program without uninstalling rybka 4 and have just the voice wavs install and become usable in Rybka 4? They both use the same Fritz 12 interface, but is that at all possible to do? They both install to the same directory I believe (chessbase).

I can't get Deep Fritz 12 to install properly which is why I'm using Rybka 4 instead with the same interface. Fritz 12 install fine and seems to run but throws up an error when I select the "metal" table, saying there is no high-res textures available in the "material" folder. In the "material" folder, I can see that there is no high-res metal folder, and the "sculptures" folder is also empty.

If anybody knows why that is happening, I could just switch back to Deep Fritz.

The problem is that, so it seems, that the main executable for the GUI, is no compile to you the user the option for sounds.

Even if you copy the wav files in the correct folder, I do not think it will work, but this is of course just my opinion.

Regards,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.

Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid you're probably right about that. The interface for Rybka 4 probably wouldn't have any options to use the sound files even if they were in the correct folder.

I wish I knew why Fritz was giving me problems with the "metal" table. The metal table folder is exactly the same with Rybka 4 as it is with Fritz 12, but it works in Rybka but not in Fritz.
