Before Leaving Yahoo Chess Games (may return after a long break, can't say how long is the break?), I would like to pass on the knowledge of book making to other people on forum. I have struggled a lot for making book and could not find much help from people on yahoo chess. I have a very limitted knowledge of chess but a Strong knowledge of Softwares. I utilised my s/w knowledge to make book and done good too
. My book have been unbeatable on short version. Longer version can't win many primarily because of slow computer. I have able to attain 2800 rating on PCC with that book and upset many 8 cores on pcc in 3/0 games both from white and black side. Now I am passing the knowledge to people at forums, who are new to this process.Here are steps for Making strong book which I used:
1. Collection of games:- many ways, use all of them to collect games. CCRL games, CEGT games, and games player by your engines on your comp (this step I will suggest how? Most critical step) Never use games played by humans. Ther are very complicated. Your engines may or may play strong games with them.
2. Create two randomized Rybka, for every ECO create pgn file till 12 moves. Randomize rybka to 20. Play 500 games for every ECO with depth of 10-20 depending on you computer. For slow computer use depth as 10. Every game played will be unique here.
3. Select white win/Black win from the games played your engines (Randomize Rybka's), CCRL and CEGT games
4. Create an empty book.
5. Import all the above games in you Fritz, shredder etc GUI, Use the import option as 30 moves and include variations
6 Mark every move in the book as Green (moves which you want your engines should move) Red (moves which you want your should never moves) Blue (Moves for which you are not certain)
7. For white to Play:- There should 1 move as an answer to black move and vice versa for black to move. If you want move moves as an answer, priortize all the muliple move by marking with !, !! !?, +-, += etc
Test the book on PCC before playing on Yahoo. After one game on PCC, Check the moves played by you book. Check whether desired line is being played? Keep testing you against standard commercially available book.
After you have tested book Play on Yahoo and enjoy.
People who put their programs on auto on shorter version games and sit on black, let their opponent play from white side now should feel relax
