Hi all, how can you change your rating if you have just started using YaY chess? For Pogo which I am more familiar with they have a Padder which allows you to boost up your rating as you don't want to be playing humans to do this. You can usually look at peoples ratings and also by typing ^yayp to tell who else is availible to play engine maches. But right now with my low rating at Yahoo I won't be able to get any games unless I find a YaY player who will adjust his differential rating to allow me to play. Would appreciate help with this.

The "padder" word/concept or whatever it is, stays with who ever invented/applied to POGO, we the developers of YaY and YaYp call it "Booster" , "Boosting", etc.

YaY is not longer developed/maintained even thou still works, we never found the time to create a booster but "Yahoo Game Owner" I think it has a booster for Chess, you will need to do your research on this. Other than that you can manually boost but of course you knew that.

Be aware that booster for Yahoo work in a different way than pogo. In Yahoo a game has to be on for at least 30 seconds to become legal, in other words, if a player resigns or gets checkmated in less than 30 seconds the ratings won't change so this is a disadvantage compare to POGO. Ah, but Yahoo booster have and advantage, you can log in several players at the time and each player can be in 1,2 or up to 3 tables I think, so this is good for "Chain Booster".

I have a simple (one to one) booster for POGO but I havent found the time to obfuscated and make a public release, perhaps in the future, perhaps never.

Seems that Yahoo is logging the main ID and not the profile you are trying to log in. But I can be wrong, just my two cents. Check if one of the users listed with the "who" command rings a bell.

As always thanks again for your help! I did not see my other id today when this happened again, only the id I logged in with.
When I first log on I see my id saying "Hi" though. But tryed more than once and sometimes works. This is with my alias id. My main id seems to be ok though. I wanted to use my alias id with YaY. I downloaded YaY 3.2.2 and will try again.

1. If your Operating System (OS) is Windows 7, you can start by setting the visibility of file extensions. You achieve this by navigating to Control Panel\ Folder Options and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.

2. Go back to your .ini file for HIARCS 13.2 engine, and in EngineCommand=Hiarcs 13.2 MP, put .exe - so that it now looks like this:

EDIT: One important PolyGlot rule to remember pertinent to engine files WITH spaces, is to ALWAYS put a quotation mark.
So for HIARCS 13.2 MP.exe, it should look like this instead:

Alternately, you can always rename an executive file (engine) such that it has no spaces between its file and don't have to worry about remembering to put the quotation mark. For example, if you were to name HIARCS 13.2 MP.exe to HIARCS_13.2_MP.exe (or however you prefer to name it), it would look like this, without the need for quotation mark:

Additional error that needs correction is:
Error 1: In UCIVersion, under [PolyGlot] settings, for HIARCS you want to put 2. So that for HIARCS,

The general rule with UCIVersion option is, if an engine has just 1 or more UCI_x string options, like HIARCS does (i.e UCI_ELO, UCI_LimitStrength, UCI_SearchMoves, UCI_Chess960 etc, etc), then it is classified as 2. That is, UCIVersion=2. If an engine does NOT have any UCI_x string/s, it falls under the category of 1.

Additional advise would be to enable
CanPonder=true
PromoteWorkAround=true

And as with all else, ensure that your paths to engine, books etc are correct.

Windows 7 differs from Vista in that it is a bug-fix from Vista. Other than this, the Control Panel\Folder Options settings should be the same in both OS.
