In the latest version of YaY, one can't use a Winboard engine such as Crafty or TheKing. It will just think of it as a mislabeled Polyglot and close. I understand you were having difficulty with people changing the names of engines and misrepresenting themselves, but is there a better way to do this? You all are probably moving to Pogo anyway so it's probably moot.

Unfortunately you are absolutely right about everything:

1.- I found it disgusting that people was changing the name of polyglot.exe and or winboard232d.exe. This was misleading other users(for example some thougth that Tinker was beating Rybka), also this was not fair for the authors of such wonderful programs.

2. YaY was created to play autochess in Yahoo with the only objective of wining and to do that you want to use the strongest engines, which, forgive me for saying it but is not crafty neither TheKing. I am convinced that the strongest engines can be used either thru polyglot.exe and or Fritz via winboard232d.exe

I am not sure about the future of YaY, if YaYp (POGO) becomes a success then yes we might just as well abandon YaY...but there is not telling what is going to happen.

I have seen all your posts in the WinBoard forum, and you seem to be a very dedicated to the auto chess comunity individual, so, if you give me (via private message) a good reason why you want to use crafty and TheKing with YaY I might remove the dust from YaY's source code and create a special executable just for you. Note: Traditionally this is supose to be a 2 minutes task, but because of the high obfuscation done to YaY's original code, this task is actually cumbersome hence my reluctance to create special versions without a good reason.

I would like to make a review about different autochess that I found on this site. In fact, the creators of its autochess as for example matematiko tell us not to use their programs to cheat on chess game sites. I want to believe in their good faith, but I still find it strange to operate its autochess on sites where there is no computer list (ie we can not know the players using a chess program or not)!? I found that creating this type of program for sites where you can not find computer list is pushing to know Vice push the players to cheat! Finally I think there are many players who use your programs to cheat on their sites. Hope you think about it. Now if you're not happy with what I said then banish me from the forum "autochess" I care passionately.

I can not speak for other programs, but people that uses YaY in Yahoo (and soon in POGO) go there because is free, and because we have the freedom to go wherever we want to go. But it happens all the time, the so called inteligent human players don't take the time to read the warnings and start playing and crying when is too late.

You are right about something, Yahoo does not have the ability for us to register as computer players, but oh well, we are not going to stop going there just because you don't like it. If you create a couple of million dollars fund to pay for all us membership to PCC for 20 years, I will see that everybody stops using YaY in Yahoo.

YaY has two main warnings, an autoshout message that is displayed when someone types /YaY and and auto welcome/warning message when some one enters the table. So, beleive me, we try our best not to play against human players. But is inevitable, sooner or later it will happen and I am sorry about it but there is nothing I can do.

I took the time to write what I said above because I want others to read it, like real human players looking for answers as to why we play in Yahoo, I did not do it to give you a respond to your comment because obviously you are a clown that came here just to stirr trouble.

Ah, I touhgth about it, as you suggested, for...let's say 1/1000 of a second and my attitude is the same...we will continue to write programs to play in free servers, I don't really care who likes it or not.

when i slect winboard x with polyglot and rybka 2 iot says
CO CONNECTION COULD BE MADE, CAUSE THE TARGET ACTIVELY REFUSED IT.
everything oppens it shows a chessboard another white screen and 1 more chat box, but then that alert pop up and then i click ok and it closes itself out. if i click chessbaseit says it cant open or find slave. im using windows 7 64 bit

i'm asking for help please! i installed an antivirus but unfortunatly it made desorder in my winboard, so that i no longer could load my winboard when i use chessbase . a small window pop up saying " startup failure on 'winboard232d.exed -pipe' file specified unfound"
this file nevertheless is there in my winboard_X.

It is in winboard folder in YaY. Check path in winboard shortcut if you are trying to access winboard with chessbase or with polyglot.

I have been have some difficulty in loading an engine such as Fritz 5.32 or even Rybka 4 with YAY. I click on the radio button that says Winboard with Chessbase.Ink I then go into either junior (connect hardware etc.) or rybka and I get the response saying "can't find slave" "cant create pipe". Can anyone help me with this issue?

you can try it. but as xsup said check where your directory is.

The problem is that he/she is not reading the fracking instructions. Fritz needs to be waiting for connection before WinBoard is launched.
