nvm i think i solved my own problem, i swapped the polyglot 14w4 for the old cygwin dependent one and it seems to be running well

Ok, some might think this is a stupid question, but i just started using yay (yay3)... could somebody tell me what the "flag" is and how it works? thanks in advance

Hi Bryan,

These kind of questions can be answered simply by reading the documentation that comes with YaY. Please read through the Tutorials and command and notes documents as a lot of time and effort went into writing these.

This time I will answer your question, here is an extract from the YaY Ultimate command and notes document:

Flag

YaY Ultimate Edition will flag your opponent automatically if their time runs out.
Note: In the event that autoflag command was not in sync with Yahoo and opponent
kept playing, just enter:
flag



So to put things simply...
Your program Flag's your opponent when their time runs out, which then ends the game. If you dont flag your opponent when their time runs out they will continue playing with their time at 0.00! NOTE: YaY Ultimate should automatically flag your opponent when their time runs out.

Thats strange though, .. I personally find polyglot 14w4 extremely stable.

hello dene, ty for taking the time to reply to my question. as far as the help files, i cant seem to find them anywhere. i just recently downloaded yay3, first time ive used yay. when i downloaded and installed, it put 6 icons on my desktop, yay ultimate 3, winboard with chessbase, winboard_x with polyglot and rybka 2, winboard without engine, yay_ultimate_3_exe.bat, and yay_ultimate_3_perl_example.bat. the last 2 seem to log me into room just like the first one. i was unable to find any help files. oh, and when i extracted files from the zip, the only thing in it was yay_ultimate_3_install, so i ran that, which installed all the other icons, but cant find help files anywhere. is there anyplace i can download all the tuts and help files?

The help files are in the "Documentation and License Folder" within YaY_Ultimate_3 folder. Locate the folder--->YaY_Ultimate_3<---in the destination path you chose during installation.

Hi frnds.
I was using yay ulti for a long time with fritz...now I feel that there are very very few people with prog who like to play 3 min or longer games...which forced me to start thinkin of polyglot to enter into the rapid world on 1/0 kinda games...so It took atleast half a day to understand the polyglot...and couple of hours to make a book...thanks to all posters at polyglot section...now I hv configured my polyglot n everything ....and I started it with yay ulti 3 with polyglot..it gives me 3 screens...one is ICS interaction screen...second is winboard screen ...and the third is engine output screen ..which I m posting the screenshot....
Is it normal so I can start playing with polyglot on yahoo...if I dont want that engine output screen what I m suppose to do?

Winboard....Menu.....Uncheck "Show Engine Output".

Note that the change is permanent, unless of course you come back to this menu and enable it again.

Appreciated...sorry for that stupid question....coz i was just curious if polyglot is working or not....but I tried and it worked...though it took a long time...but thanks to everyone here....

hey guys. im having a big problem. Everytime I try to log into a room (i get to the point in the process where It should load up the console window and winboard) the DOS output window disappears. I videotaped it and i saw that before it exited it gave an error "Cannot Grab Image: Bad File Descriptor." This is a sudden error. Ive been using this program for a few days with no problem at all. Maybe some relevant information:.. when i go to just open the shortcut "Winboard X w/ polyglot and rybka 2", I get an error "Cannot connect to host 127.0.0.1, port 6000. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it." Did Yahoo block my IP address or something? whats up with this? i tried multiple screennames with no success.

EDIT: my mistake,this happens right before i should enter a confirmation code.

So is everything OK now? If not, what version of YaY are you using? Have you change something lately, like installing a new router or a new network card? If using 3.1.1 perl release, did you edit the .pl file?

I will be waiting for you answer and start helping you based on that answer.

Hi mate, same problem here... In normal log to yahoo and chosing rooms I could see yahoo made changes in the page where we type testword to enter... New window appears and new image and maybe yay cant grab that image, So this is the problem.

Hope we (you) find a solution soon...best wish to yay team!

Unfortunally I don't use the official release I used my own captcha-less script and I was unawared of this problem. Let me fire up the official YaY distro and find out what the problem is.
