I assume you mean 'port'

No you can change the port number to another if you dont wanna use port 6000 (although some ports may not work).

Just be sure to change the port number on your WinBoard shortcut targetline before trying to enter the new one on your YaY loggin!

I am just curious, what do you mean by:

?????????

If I remember correctly, port 8080 is sometimes used by browsers such as IE or Firefox when set to use proxy servers, I'll suggest you pick a port between 6000 and 7000.

I dont know what you mean when you make the statement that your port is 8080, how can you be so sure? The port to be used with YaY and Winboard is something what the user determines, not the computer. Maybe you are confused and you are looking at something else.

When enter the port number in the YaY window, be sure you enter the same port number you declared in the winboard shortcut, for example, if your winboard shortcut has this target:
"C:\Program Files\WinBoard-4.2.7\winboard.exe" /zp /ics /icshost 127.0.0.1 /icsport 6000 /fcp="winboard232d.exe -pipe"

then the port you must enter is 6000 also.

Good luck,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.

As it's already been stated before, while posting a link in the forum, make sure that the entire link is posted, I mean avoid letting it be posted as an abbrevation or something like that.

8000,8001,8080 are default ports for http connections , all connection you make with internet(browser surfing ) using tcp/ip are usually through these ports, unless you change them You may have any port number other than 6000 for ics intercation ,but you need to specify it ....
